Soapdish is another torchbearer for Pinoy alternative, a subgenre that was popularized in the ‘80s by the Dawn, in the ‘90s by Eraserheads, and now by Sugarfree. This four-member group—Jeff Bolivar on vocals and guitars, Terence Teves on guitars, Cesar Bendoy on bass, Kurl Floresco on drums—has been around for quite a while. For an industry that is always on the prowl for new music acts, one can’t help but think that some of them are not really musicians, but are just there for the fame and fortune. Luckily, Soapdish is not just another rock band on the scene. And through their self-titled album, Soapdish brings a fresh take on the alternative subgenre.
